niseko area guide
The "Niseko" area lies within two towns, Niseko Town and Kutchan Town. There are four main ski areas, Hanazono, Grand Hirafu, Niseko Village and Niseko Annupuri located around Mt. Annupuri. These four areas comprise the Niseko United and access to the entire area can be bought in one pass. There are two smaller ski areas in Niseko, Niseko Moiwa and Niseko Weiss, lying to the south west and north of the Niseko United respectively.
The area is most easily accessed by bus, train or car. In winter, there is a good bus service from Chitose International Airport which arrives in Hirafu. Train access to the ski areas is via Kutchan station, the journey to Hirafu being completed by bus or taxi. In winter, there is a "Free Passport Bus" that takes visitors around the four main resorts. Niseko Moiwa also has its own bus service to and from Hirafu. In summer, most visitors choose to hire a car which allows easier access to the area.
